Model Builder Archive

ISSN: Not widely documented

Published primarily in the 1930s and 1940s by The Lionel Corporation, Model Builder was a resource for model railroaders and other modeling enthusiasts, offering detailed articles on construction techniques, materials, and design for various modeling hobbies, including trains. Known for its practical approach, it appealed to hobbyists seeking to refine their skills across multiple disciplines. Though not as prominent as larger railroading magazines, its historical significance endures.

ScaleTrains™, an innovative model train manufacturer, founded in 2015 and headquartered in Cleveland, Tennessee, acquired the rights to Model Builder and is working to make its content available again to the railfan and model railroading community. The company offers model trains for every skill level and budget, specializing in HO, N, and S Scale, manufacturing diesel and steam locomotives, freight cars, passenger cars, containers, and more. Additionally, Virtual Railfan™, under the ScaleTrains umbrella since 2023, brings LIVE train watching destinations to desktops and mobile devices.
